About The William & Garland Motel

Our Family Owned motel Has Been Around For 70 Years.

Our Historic Beachside Motel Features 8 Cozy Guest Rooms & 3 Private Mobile Homes.

We were built in 1954 by William Garland Smith, Sr. and William Garland Smith, Jr. which is the origination of our name. We started with just 4 rooms that attracted fishermen and beachgoers. In 1971, increased demand warranted an expansion with larger rooms for the whole family to vacation.

In memoriam to william g. smith, jr.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our Big William. Thank you all for the love and support you've shown Big William and Peggy, and the Motel, over the years. Please keep Peggy and the family in your thoughts and prayers. His vision and leadership will never be forgotten and his legacy will live on through the business that he worked tirelessly to build.

Renovated on hgtv's 100 day hotel challenge!

We have been working on ongoing renovations, with a huge jump start as participants on HGTV's "100 Day Hotel Challenge."  We will remain a relic as one of Salter Path’s oldest businesses, as it is our goal to keep a piece of history alive and ensure that each of our guests enjoy a glimpse into the past with modern day southern hospitality.
