About The William & Garland Motel

Our Family Owned Hotel Has Been Around For 70 Years.

Our Historic Beachside Motel Features 8 Cozy Guest Rooms & 3 Private Mobile Homes.

We were built in 1954 by William Garland Smith, Sr. and William Garland Smith, Jr. which is the origination of our name. We started with just 4 rooms that attracted fishermen and beachgoers. In 1971, increased demand warranted an expansion with larger rooms for the whole family to vacation.

Our Owners

William Garland Smith, Jr. and wife, Peggy, have been operating the business since their early twenties. Now in their late seventies, they are passing along the torch to their granddaughter, Amanda, and her husband, Perry Savas. William Sr. and Peggy still reside on the property and are enjoying the fruits of their labor.

Recently Renovated

This past winter, we began renovations, with a huge jump start as participants on HGTV's "100 Day Hotel Challenge." We still have updates that will be happening in our off-season, but we will remain a relic as one of Salter Path’s oldest businesses. It is our goal to keep a piece of history alive and ensure that each of our guests enjoy a glimpse into the past with modern day southern hospitality.
